Seven of Seven

(Got tagged by Teacher Dawn )

Instructions: So you start off with seven random habits or facts about yourself. You choose seven other people to get tagged and list their names, then leave a comment in their blogs telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog. Okay?

1.) I don't drink milk, I am lactose intolerant. I did tried but the only milk I liked (and my stomach liked) was Cowhead... I would rather palpitate because of coffee (oohhh... I love coffee by the way!) instead of drinking milk! ;-)

2.) I am really not good in Math... I even failed the subject way back grade school days... I just don't know what went wrong and I ended up taking Math and guess what?! I am a Math teacher!

3.) I love chocolates... (even if it gives me migraine)

4.) I don't have pimples... Even if I don't wash my face every night... hehehehe....

5.) When I eat nilagang baka, I leave the potatoes on one side first and mash it after I eat the rice, meat and other vegetables...

6.) I am gullible... I was talking with my co-teacher once and I told him that I am gullible. He said "Alam mo ba na walang word na "gullible" sa dictionary?" (did you know that gullible is not in the dictionary?) And, I said "Talaga?!?" (Really?) hahaha.... And I was serious then...

7.) I am very sentimental... I would cry over simple things, most specially serious ones. I would cry over a TV show, when telling sad stories, and whenever I feel sad!

Quite a Good Start...

It has been a month now since the school year have started. So far, no love letters from parents yet! YIPEE!!!! (Hope not to receive any...) My not-so-favorite student, Sean, has been attending shortened period for almost two weeks now, and it was such a relief! But still, every time he comes in, everything gets topsy turvy again. Mark, my other not-so-favorite student became my buddy since then. I get to talk to him more often, and I get to have some exercise too (he runs a lot... and I have to run after him, you know..)! And with all 29 students, my classroom sounds like a market every day! But thank God, the first month was good. I haven't been called or even get a PSM note (Please See Me) from Teacher Emma. I just hope things would run really smooth until March. At least by then, I get to own something that I worked hard for... And I hope they become good students and when people ask who their teacher was last year or their parents would be asked who their child's teacher was, they would proudly say "Teacher Jessy!" *sigh* That would be one of the most wonderful time I am sure gonna to remember for the rest of my life....

View from a Teacher's Table...

It's been four days now since classes have started. I can't wait to go home! It felt like I've been staying in school for two weeks now! This year, I've been "tapped" to handle grade one students on my own. Teacher Vivian (my ever beloved partner and teacher) can't be with me anymore since his son, Javi is already in Grade 1. So, for four days now, I've been doing it on my own. I thought it would be easy and I thought I could easily handle the little guys (they showed me good attitude during orientation), but it didn't stop there.

Let me introduce to you some of my students:

Javi - Teacher Vivian's son, very cute and intelligent

Joshua - One of my co-teacher's son (he's quite nice but he's talk-active!)

Jirhael - another colleague's son

Cielo - and another...

Nathan - very intelligent but he's also VERY talk-active!!!!

Sean - won't ran out of questions and would always ask "teacher, may I erase the board??" and

Mark - a real challenge for me (separate blog for Mark to follow... ;-)

Honestly, I really don't like kids. That's why I had "secondary" education as my course and not "elementary". I actually still can't see my self treating them the way Teacher Vivian does.. with all patience, love and care... But I am really trying my best! I hope I could be like the other teachers that I know and that I would grow as a person just like how these children in my care grows in school. I hope nothing goes wrong this year!

Welcome to the Family!!!

Last week, my sister told me that she and her "husband" will stay for the weekend in our house. And I was really excited! I came home Sunday morning, they were all still asleep. Very excited, I went to my parents room where me and my sister usually sleep during weekends. Ta-dah!!! I then realized that she was in the other room with her "husband"! I miss her oh-so-much!!! But what the heck!!! She's not going anywhere. In fact, I have a scheduled sleep-over at their place. But this time, I'll be sleeping in the couch. :( OMG!!! My sister is really married and I can no longer sleep beside her...

On the other hand, I am just so glad that she ended up with Kuya Jeje. Not her "IDEAL" boy-next-door, but Kuya Jeje sure did everything to win ate's heart. And for Kuya Jeje, I am sure that you are also lucky to have my sister as your wife... She cooks well, you know. And she loves you so dearly!!!

I wonder when the first baby of the family will arrive? Can't wait to post pictures of my "first nephew"! For now, WELCOME Kuya Jeje!!! ;-) Take care of my sister, okay?

** Welcome to the Family Part 2 coming soon... (haha... maybe 2 or 3 years from now?! what you think?) :-)

Butterfly Kisses

She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride-room just staring at her.
She asked me what I'm thinking and I said "I'm not
sure-I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
She leaned over...gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there,
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk me down the aisle, Daddy-it's just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!"

While my sister and I were still planning for her BIG day, we imagined this song to be played for her dance with our father. We planned to have an AVP of her pictures with papa. And we just laughed at the possible outcome of this surprise for papa. We imagined papa just giggling through the whole song. He's not much of a sentimental type you know. But the little surprise turned out to be one of the most memorable and touching part of the wedding. Everyone (I guess...) became teary eyed during the father-and-daughter dance. It was soooo memorable.

Now I am wondering, would I also feel the same on my BIG day? Hahaha... Well, for now I will just have to enjoy my singleness (I am referring to my marital status, baka may magalit... ;-) with mama and papa, and hope to feel the same feeling my ate had during her dance with papa.

"I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses at night."

My sister's getting married....

My sister's getting married!!! Two days from now, she will be Mrs. Janice Villorente-Antonio. I don't know why, but I am really getting sad. I asked my dad last Saturday, "Pa, di mo ba mamimiss si ate?" and he answered me "Hinde. Andyan lang naman si ate mo di naman siya mawawala". But still, I am not satisfied with their answers. I am very, very, very happy for my sister but then, I am really going to miss her. Maybe because, I am still enjoying the company of a sister. I am still not over with the idea going to her house, sleeping beside her and talk to her about so many things until she falls asleep. The next time I go to her house, I wouldn't be allowed to sleep beside her, might end up lying in the couch or even on the floor. I will also be forced to buy my own wardrobe.

We were not so close before, most specially way back during my elementary days. We would fight everyday, every night. She will not allow me to go with her to parties and won't allow me to borrow anything from her. Not until one day, we became close (thanks Singles for Christ!!). It's just sad that she will be leaving the house and we will have less talks. I miss her so badly! But then, I cannot do anything about it. Maybe I will just have to settle with texting. ;-) Best wishes ate!!! I love you and cheers to a happy married life!

A Teacher's Confession....

I was one of those "lucky ones" to get a job right after grad... No vacation for me last summer... It was work, work..... and never ending work. Exciting? yah, it was and until now, it is... But I don't know and I can't understand this feeling now... TIRED? got to get up by 6:30am, take a bath, time-in should be before 7:15 can't be late... check papers, "hell-day" Tuesday and Thursday, very "active" grade one students, paper work piling up on my table.... BORED? nowhere to go after class... classroom-to-dorm(which is actually inside the school), dorm-to-faculty lounge, lounge-to-computer lab... all week long.... I wanted to work and finish my paper works... but I end up sitting down checking my mail and doing Friendster.... what a dull weekly routine... STRESSED? parents calling you up while classes are going on, ambush interviews and interrogation by parents after class (sometimes even in the morning, haven't combed my hair yet...) again, papers piling up and deadlines to beat.... (got to work hard for the 13th month pay...)... So what is this feeling?? Tired? Bored? Stressed?

But still in the end, there is still this feeling of happiness that the children in this school brings me... My everyday bouts with Brian, my sweet little Anton... Gabbie (a very interesting girl, mind you, she will never ran out of questions and stories...), Therese (very sweet), Gio (very naughty but nice...)Patricia (love dis kid...)... I admit there are times I can't take everything anymore... I would end up shouting and giving homily to grade one students... Poor me! There are days when I would drag myself to get up. But these children?? Very innocent... I can't help but smile and thank God that He gave me these little kids... Rowdy yet very sweet...

The reward of being a teacher is very different... Yes there are down days when all you want is to lie down and pretend that you are sick and can't come for work...
But there are also days when you can't help it but hug them and sing "same sign add and keep different sign subtract" (in tune of row, row, row your boat) endlessly. The grin in Miggy's face every time he gets to answer correctly is very satisfying... "I love you teacher Jessy" from Anton gets me moving... The love letters from them keeps coming... Argghh... It breaks my heart and just wanted to cry out of happiness... Oh Darn!!! I love these kids..
